Requirements for Submitted Materials
Requirements for Submitted Materials
The journal "Technosphere Safety" publishes articles and reviews containing the results of scientific theoretical and experimental research related to fire safety and emergency safety.
The editors ask authors to adhere to the following guidelines when preparing their manuscripts.
Article Structure
The article should be presented in the following order.
1.1. Section Title in accordance with the rubricator
1.2. UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) number
1.3. Article Title (in Russian and English)
1.4. Author Information (in Russian and English).
1.4.1. Full first names, patronymics, and last names of all authors.
1.4.2. Academic degrees and titles.
1.4.3. Name of the organization and its division where the author works or studies (without indicating the legal entity's organizational and legal form: Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution, Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education, Public Joint-Stock Company, Joint-Stock Company, etc.)
1.4.4. Address of the organization where the author works or studies, indicating the city and country.
1.4.5. Email address of the corresponding author.
1.4.6. Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), Researcher ID, Author ID (E-library, Scopus).
1.4.7. The number of authors must not exceed 4.
1.5. Abstract (in Russian and English) of at least 150 words: the abstract must not repeat the text of the article itself (sentences from the article cannot be taken and transferred to the abstract), nor its title. It must not contain numbers, tables, in-text footnotes, etc.
1.6. Keyword list (in Russian and English) should be at least 5: keywords should be informative; general terms (e.g., problem, solution, etc.) that are not specific to the publication should not be used as keywords. Words and terms used in the title should not be repeated as keywords; keywords should complement the information in the title. Do not use a period after keywords.
1.7. Article body (at least three pages) in RTF or DOC formats. Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt., formulas in Microsoft Equation or MathType. Line spacing: single. Letter spacing: normal. Text alignment: justified.
The main text of the article should contain clear, logically interconnected sections. All sections should begin with the headings listed below, highlighted in bold. The following sections are traditional for a scientific article:
Introduction;
Materials and methods (methodology) — for a scientific-empirical article;
Theoretical foundations (theory and calculations) — for a scientific-theoretical article;
Results and their discussion;
Conclusion (conclusions).
The editors may also allow a different structure, depending on the specifics of a particular article (analytical (review), discussion, etc.), provided that the following sections are clearly defined:
Introduction;
Main (analytical) part;
Conclusion (conclusions).
Cited text from other publications should be placed in quotation marks, and a reference to the original source must be provided and included in the bibliography. Previously published tables, formulas, figures, methods, and numerical data (except for well-known quantities) must also be accompanied by references to the original source.
1.8. The list of sources is formatted in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5 – 2008 as a general list in the order in which they are mentioned in the article. For a scientific article, the bibliography consists of 5-15 sources; for a review article, up to 20. The bibliography should consist of at least 50% current (no older than 10 years) scientific publications. No more than 30% of the bibliography should be authored or co-authored by the author of the article. Textbooks, tutorials, company websites, etc. are not permitted in the bibliography. The optimal level of citation and self-citation by the author is no more than 20% of the list of references.
At least half of the sources should be included in one of the leading citation indexes: Russian Science Citation Index eLibrary, Web of Science, Scopus, Chemical Abstracts, MathSciNet, Springer, etc. If a digital object identifier (DOI) is available, it must be included to allow for the unique identification of the object in databases. If the article is registered in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI), the EDN (eLIBRARY Document Number) code must be indicated in the format https://www.elibrary.ru/ХХХХХХ (for example, https://www.elibrary.ru/yluwhf). 1.9. References (article bibliographies in Latin and English). Submitting only transliterated (without translation) descriptions in References is unacceptable. Please note that the translation of article titles should be provided as they were when they were published, and the translation of journal titles must be officially accepted.
When compiling References, please follow the following scheme:
Authors' General and Personal Information (transliteration)
title in English for an article, transliteration and translation of the title for a book;
title of the source (journal, collection of articles, conference proceedings, etc.) in transliteration and in English (in italics, separated by a slash);
publishing information;
language of the material in parentheses (e.g., (rus)).
Manuscript Design
Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages for theoretical and discussion review articles and 15 pages for other materials, including tables, illustrations, and bibliography. The publication language must be Russian or English. The editors do not translate Russian-language articles; authors translate them themselves.
In-text references to works included in the bibliography are provided in square brackets, indicating the source number in the list. Hyphens must be different from dashes. Dashes and quotation marks must be consistent throughout the text. No styles are allowed, and no columns are specified. Breaks between paragraphs are not allowed.
Graphic objects (photographs, illustrations, graphs) included in the text of the article must be duplicated in jpg format. The resolution must be at least 300 dpi. The color scheme of graphic objects must be grayscale or neutral tones; the use of bright colors is prohibited. The maximum number of graphic objects is 7; in exceptional cases, this may be subject to approval by the editors. Formulas and letter notations must be clear and distinct. All letter notations included in formulas must be explained, indicating units of measurement. All illustrations must be numbered consecutively. Tables should be concise and contain only the necessary information; identical tables should be constructed in the same manner. Numerical data must be rounded according to the experimental precision. Data in tables and figures must not be repeated. References to all tables in the text are required.
The journal requires bilingual presentation of tables and graphics, so please submit an English translation of the following:
for a table: its title, header, sidebar, text in all rows, footnotes, and notes;
for a figure: the figure caption and all text captions in the figure itself;
for a diagram: the caption and the entire diagram content.
Review
All submitted materials are checked for plagiarism using the "Antiplagiat" automated text checking system. The text must be at least 80% unique. The editorial board of the scientific journal "Technosphere Safety" will check the originality of the article; other sources of confirmation of the originality of the text will not be accepted. An article may be checked by Antiplagiat no more than twice. All submitted materials undergo re-review by specialists from the editorial board and are published only after receiving a positive review from the reviewers. Manuscripts submitted to the editors cannot have been previously published in other publications (publishing houses) or simultaneously submitted to other publications (publishing houses).
Submissions from graduate students and PhD candidates are accepted for consideration if they have a signed review recommending publication, or if they are co-authored by the paper's supervisor or co-authored by a PhD candidate (Doctor of Science).
The editors reserve the right to reduce the length of the submission, make literary edits, and refuse publication if the article does not meet the journal's profile or is of poor quality.
Contact the editors
For additional information, please email: tehnosfernayabesopasnost@mail.ru (for submissions). Authors are advised that correspondence sent to the specified email address is official. The editors will notify authors by return letter that work on their submitted material has begun. If no response is received, it is recommended that you send a follow-up letter.
Article Publication
Articles are published in the order they are received by the editors. If comments are received during the review process, authors must submit a revised version of the article within one month, highlighting the changes made. They must also prepare specific responses and comments to all reviewer questions and comments.
Failure to respond in a timely manner or adequately to comments from reviewers and editors will delay publication until the deficiencies are corrected.
If comments from reviewers and editors are ignored, the manuscript will be withdrawn from further consideration.
Authors must provide:
article text
a license agreement granting free rights to use the work and metadata (sent to authors upon acceptance of the article for publication).
graphic objects (if any) in accordance with the requirements specified above.
Articles rejected for publication will not be returned to the author. A request from the editors for revisions does not mean that the material has been accepted for publication.
The editors reserve the right to assume that authors who have submitted a manuscript for publication in the journal Technosphere Safety agree with the terms of publication or rejection of the manuscript, as well as with the rules for its design.
